Aspects

The distance between the planets, in degrees, at the moment of your birth determines the "aspect" between them. Certain angles formed by the aspects have special characteristics that influence your personality.

Interpreting the aspects
Interpretation of the aspects in a birth chart is an integral part of astrology. They describe the relationship the planets have with each other — "easy" or "difficult." Once you have placed the planets on your chart, you can see what aspects (angles) are made between them.
You can then draw lines between the planets, like an astrological version of "join the dots," to form "aspect patterns. Certain angles made between planets, such as Mercury and Saturn on this chart, influence your personality.

MAJOR ASPECTS
There ate five major aspects: conjunction, opposition, trine, square and sextile. If two planets are next to each other, they are in conjunction and usually (all in the same sign. If two planets are directly opposite, they usually fall in opposite signs on your chart. If two planets are four signs apart, they are trine, if three signs apart, they are square and if two signs apart, they are sextile.

MINOR ASPECTS
There are four minor aspects semi square, quincunx, sesquare, and semisextile. two planets are about 45 degrees apart they are semisquare and if they are 30 degrees apart, they are semisextile. two planets are six signs apart, but not quite in opposition, they are quincunx, if live signs apart, they are sesquare.

It's unlikely that many, if any, of the planets in your chart will fall into precise aspects Therefore, an "orb of influence" is permitted to measure the approximate distances apart, which is usually about eight degrees to either side. So, for two planets to be in conjunction they need to be at the given degree, give or take eight degrees.
