Cinnamon is actually aromatic tree bark, one of the few herbs that is not a seed, root or leaf. The trees are native to various parts of Southeast Asia. Cinnamon is an extremely popular spice used in all forms of baking and cooking. Be careful with cinnamon oil. In a pure or essential state, it can be very irritating to the skin.

Using in rituals
The lovely smell of cinnamon is a welcome addition to anyone's rituals. Not only is it easy on the nose, cinnamon has many magickal uses. It is most powerful when used in spells for love or passion, but can also be used for money and prosperity as well as health related rituals. Cinnamon is also a very spiritual herb. As such, cinnamon is a common spice in traditional Sabbat foods. For magickal purposes, you can use either the powdered form or the oil. Entire sticks are sometimes used, usually for making charms.
The mythological Phoenix was said to built its nest out of cinnamon, as well as spikenard and myrrh. Cinnamon is one of the ingredients in the Egyptian Kyphi incense blend, and was used during the mummification process.
