Full moon Names: Rose, Buck, Hay, Thunder, Mead
July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month's Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

A Charm of Protection
For this Full Moon: a ritual to create a charm of protection, formed from natural elements, that you can keep within your home, on your altar or on a wall. Spend some time outdoors discovering and gathering some bits of nature with which you can fashion your charm‹vines or grasses that can be woven together, fallen feathers, small stones, seashells, anything shiny or Sun/fire colored. Look for things that remind you of each of the elements: fire, earth, air and water. Perhaps you can weave these things into a wreath, or glue them into a circular pattern on a background, such as a flat piece of wood or slate. In the center place a symbol of that which you would protect. A photograph would be most explicit, though any symbol meaningful to you can be used. All the time you are gathering and working, weave in your mind a luminous web-light of protection around whomever or whatever is the focus of your rite.
When you have completed your charm, stand barefoot upon the Earth and hold the charm up to the Full Moon, invoking Her blessing into it.
By seed and root, by stem and leaf,
By flower and fruit, I call to thee
O gracious Goddess, bless this charm
Infuse it with your energy
May that at center of my charm
By magick pow'r protected be
Encircled now with loving care
Safe from harm, so mote it be!
